Wax is the most effective regulator for the fluidity of hot melt adhesives. Rallychem offers a refined range of waxes, including Fischer-Tropsch, polyethylene, polypropylene, and polar oxidized polyethylene, featuring high melting points and a uniform molecular weight distribution. These are designed to facilitate adjustment of adhesive formulations and flow, accommodating the requirements of various application environments and sizing processes.
For the hot melt adhesive formulation system, the addition of wax always shortens the opening time, and the degree of influence varies with the nature of the wax. The wide range of Rallychem waxes with different melting points and viscosities, makes it easy to adjust the formulation according to the actual application.
When compatible, wax can enhance the strength and modulus of hot melt adhesives. Rallychem's narrowly distributed wax products can enhance the flexibility of hot melt adhesives, as it is readily compatible with the ethylene segments within EVA.
When bonding porous materials, if the hot melt adhesive is overly viscous, it may consolidate before fully penetrating the substrate, leading to inadequate bonding. Rallychem's refined FT and PE waxes offer lower viscosities, effectively enhancing the adhesive's wettability. With polar substrates, using oxidized polyethylene waxes containing polar groups can enhance bonding properties.
